Wire coverage
July 8, 2026
A group of 69 fashion and textile organisations has signed a joint statement pressing governments in the EU, the United States, and Canada to change the tax treatment of resale and repair, according to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, which convened the effort. Signatories include Arc’teryx, Decathlon, Etsy, H&M Group, Lacoste, Primark, Reformation, ThredUp, Vestiaire Collective, Vinted, and Zalando, the Foundation said.
March 29, 2023
Vinted reported its first annual net profit, 17.8 million euros, on revenue of 596.3 million euros in 2023, a 61 percent jump from the year before, with adjusted EBITDA of 76.6 million euros, according to the company’s annual report and coverage in Sifted and the BBC. It was the first time a major consumer-to-consumer secondhand platform showed the model could clear profit at scale.
January 20, 2022
Vestiaire Collective closed a 178 million euro round, roughly 210 million dollars, backed by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Al Gore’s Generation Investment Management, reaching a 1.7 billion dollar valuation, according to Business of Fashion. The investor list mattered as much as the number: a climate-focused fund and a mega-fund arriving together framed luxury resale as both a sustainability play and a scale play.
Executive notes
Vestiaire Collective named Thomas Hezard chief product officer and Remi Bouchez chief technology officer in March, the first senior hires under chief executive Bernard Osta. The company framed both appointments around an AI roadmap spanning search, personalization, and authentication.
Fanny Moizant, who co-founded Vestiaire Collective in 2009 and served as president, departed in January, writing on LinkedIn that the exit followed organizational changes and was not a decision she initiated. With her departure, fashion director Sophie Hersan remains the last co-founder in post.
Bernard Osta became chief executive of Vestiaire Collective in October, promoted from chief financial officer after joining as chief strategy officer in 2021, with fifteen prior years in investment banking at Lazard and Goldman Sachs. His stated 2026 target is the company's first profitable year.
